Recycling of glass waste

THE GLASS IS 100% RECYCLABLE AND CAN BE RECYCLED AN INFINITE NUMBER OF TIMES WITHOUT ANY NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE GLASS OR ITS CONTAMINATION.

It is estimated that 80% of all recycled glass is used to make new glass bottles.

Before remelting, waste glass must be cleaned and sorted. For this purpose, UAB Kauno has installed a sorting line of Austrian company Binder+Co for sorting broken glass, where the collected glass waste is appropriately processed, i.e., stones, ceramics, porcelain, mirrors, and organic garbage, as well as PET packaging and other plastics and metals are separated.

Separated recyclables such as metal caps, aluminium products and plastics are sent for further recycling.

Clean glass cullet are separated by colour (flint, brown, green) in an optical sorting machine and sent for remelting.

In addition, rejected glass from the production process is reused in the production of the bottles. This maximises the avoidance of industrial waste and makes a significant contribution to environmental policy and the circular economy.
